Description

What it is

A facilitated session built on Continuous Improvement, the free simulation of a year inside a registered training organisation. Six roles, four quarters, four things already wrong that nobody has written down, and a performance assessment that lands in a quarter nobody chooses.

It is not compliance training and it does not prepare anyone for an audit. Every RTO runs a continuous improvement register. Almost none of them run continuous improvement. This session puts a team inside the year where that gets decided and makes them spend the days.

Two ways to run it

Mode A. Solo in the room. Two and a half hours. One device each. Good for conferences and VET networks.

Mode B. The Table Edition. Three and a half hours. Four to six players, one RTO, one twenty-sided die, no software. This is the in-house product.

The rule that makes it work: nobody plays their own job. The compliance officer goes on the front desk. The owner goes in the classroom. The trainer takes the seat that owns the matrix and funds nothing. The most common piece of feedback from this session is a version of “I did not know they could see that”, and it only happens if the swap is enforced.

What it is scored against

The four Quality Areas of the Standards for RTOs 2025: Training and Assessment, VET Student Support, VET Workforce, and Governance. The outcome standards ask whether something works, not whether a document exists saying it should, and a team that plays this by tidying documents does badly for exactly the reason a real assessment goes badly.

  • Worked Example. A competent year that did not hold up, annotated.
  • Participant Workbook, Role Cards and Year Record Sheet.
