Description

The kit is written so a competent facilitator can run Cause Unknown cold. This day is for organisations who would rather not find out the hard way which of their people are competent facilitators.

What the day is actually about

Almost everything that goes wrong in this exercise goes wrong in two places. The forced hypothesis, where you make a room commit to a cause before it has enough evidence and then sit in the silence without rescuing anyone. And the debrief, where you put a number on how much of their answer landed on a person, and then hold a room that has just been made uncomfortable on purpose.

Everything else a good trainer can run from the script on day one. Those two moments cannot be scripted. More than half the day is spent with your people facilitating and being critiqued, not listening.

The shape of it

Eight sessions, 08:30 to 17:00. Your own blame indexes on the board first. Then the mechanics and why each one exists, a watched practice round, the forced hypothesis, bowtie and five whys live on a wall, ninety minutes on the debrief with each person running a segment and being critiqued, the eight traps from the facilitator side, and a delivery commitment to close.

Pre-work is not optional. Every participant plays CU-01 solo in the free app, records their own blame index, and reads the student guide. About ninety minutes. Anyone who arrives without having been a participant spends the day arguing about the cases instead of learning to run them.

Assessment

Accreditation is awarded on observed facilitation, not attendance. If someone is not accredited on the day they are told why, specifically, before they leave, and they get one free re-observation online within ninety days. Nobody pays for this and goes home with nothing but a no.

The detail

  • Up to four people. Beyond four there is not enough practice time per person and the day stops working.
  • On site in Perth metro, or online. Elsewhere in Australia by arrangement, travel and accommodation at cost, agreed in writing before booking.
  • Prerequisite: a current in-house site licence or commercial delivery licence.
  • Each person leaves with a numbered accreditation certificate, the printed debrief crib card, and their own annotated script.

Booking

Dates are arranged after purchase. You will be contacted within two business days to schedule. If no workable date can be found within six months, the fee is refunded in full. Buying this now downloads the full programme outline, including the pre-work note you can forward to your four people.

$2,950 AUD plus GST. The price shown includes GST.
